Changing Places Facilities

Over a quarter of a million severely disabled people in the UK don’t have access to public toilet facilities that meet their needs. At iHUS, we’re on a mission to change this — and we’ve developed a simple solution to this common problem.

Changing Places Facilities

Over a quarter of a million severely disabled people in the UK don’t have access to public toilet facilities that meet their needs. At iHUS, we’re on a mission to change this — and we’ve developed a simple solution to this common problem.

Changing Places Toilets

Over a 1/4 million people need Changing Places toilets to enable them to get out and about and enjoy the day-to-day activities many of us take for granted. Whether you have space internally or need a modular unit. We have the solution.

Residential Adaptations

iHUS are one of the UK’s leading Disabled Adaptations Specialists; working closely with Field Professionals, Occupational Therapists, Architects, Case Managers and Solicitors we cover all aspects of building adaptations from minor access and mobility difficulties to extensive adaptations.

Sensory Quiet Spaces

Sensory/Quiet Rooms

Sensory rooms are used by a wide variety of people and for different reasons, either way; they can change and enrich lives. iHUS offer both modular and adapted sensory rooms that can be customised to meet a range of needs.

A Unique Modular Solution

Don’t limit yourself with an internal adaptation. Our quick-build modular Changing Places toilets create space, rather than taking it — ensuring the optimal internal layout.

Business Case For Investment

The reasons to purchase a Changing Places toilet goes far beyond ‘doing the right thing’. Download our free guide, and read clear financial, legal and moral arguments for investment.

The Truth About a Lack of Changing Places

Jane Cooper and Gillian Scotford explain the struggles of family life if facilities are not available for disabled people. They discuss their experiences and why it is not uncommon for people to not want to leave the house, because they don’t have a toilet to use.

Premium Design & Specification

All of our internal and modular Changing Places toilets Provide the following:

The right equipment

This includes a height adjustable adult-sized changing bench, ceiling track hoist system (or mobile hoist if this isn’t possible) and peninsular toilet.

Adequate space (12sqm)

Space for the disabled person and up to two carers, including a centrally placed toilet with transfer space either side and a screen/curtain to allow privacy.

A safe, clean environment

A place that is publicly accessible, with wide tear-off paper roll to cover the bench, a large waste bin for disposable pads and a non-slip floor.

In a word iHUS were Fantastic! They clearly have a grasp on exactly what is needed to meet the Changing Places criteria. There were no delays, everything worked, and our facility is built to a very high standard. Communications were excellent and the project was delivered on time and to budget.

iHUS Projects Ltd

iHUS is one of the UK’s leading disabled adaptations companies, specialising in the design and installation of modular Changing Places toilets. Based in South Yorkshire, we combine over 30 years’ experience in construction with a specialist knowledge of disabled adaptations.

We work nationwide to enhance the disabled provision in care homes, schools, leisure centres, tourist attractions, public buildings, commercial and domestic properties. Our portfolio spans all aspects of building adaptations from minor access and mobility difficulties, to extensive adaptations for people with a very specific and traumatic profile.

We believe that the Changing Places campaign is one of the most significant initiatives in disability access for the last 20 years, and we’re extremely proud to play a small role in supporting families and campaigners across the UK.

Public toilets hold approximately 77,000 germs and viruses. This statistic becomes even more alarming when you consider that those who require adult changing facilities typically get changed on the toilet floor.
