The centre provides a wealth of accessible equipment, like platform bikes (for wheelchair users), side-by-side tandem bikes (for the visually impaired) and double-hand cycles (for those who have difficulty using pedals).
However, the existing toilet facilities didn’t meet the needs of many profoundly disabled visitors. A modular Changing Places facility was installed to quickly address this issue.
In a word iHUS were Fantastic! They clearly have a grasp on exactly what is needed to meet the Changing Places criteria. There were no delays, everything worked, and our facility is built to a very high standard. Communications were excellent and the project was delivered on time and to budget.
Working with our specialist equipment partners at OpeMed, we installed a brand new pre-fabricated CP toilet, designed to cater for the needs of disabled customers.
Built off-site and installed within days, the facility is fully compliant to BS 8300, featuring a full room covering ceiling hoist, a height adjustable changing table, 12sqm of space (designed to allow both users and their carers to safely and easily use the facility) and other vital specialist equipment.
Investment into an internal adaptation may not always be possible or viable. In those instances, a modular CP facility, which can be craned into position as a complete unit, provides a great alternative. Should the Bristol team ever look to relocate, their CP facility will be almost as mobile as their cyclists.
With over 30 years’ experience in construction, iHUS are one of the UK’s leading disabled adaptations companies – specialising in the design and installation of Changing Places facilities.
